The Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, John McCallum, amended the Express Entry System regulations as announced in the Canada Gazette on October 21, 2016. The new changes will come into force on November 19, 2016. The main changes are related to the number of points assigned through the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) in Express Entry.
Following is a summary of the CRS changes:
Studying in Canada is now more appealing for international students as the government of Canada is facilitating a smooth path to permanent residency for international students. International students have always had access to a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) to obtain Canadian work experience after they graduate. With additional points given to Canadian educational program-graduates, international students will be more qualified to become immigrants and reside in Canada permanently.
On the other hand, while IRCC has reduced the value of a qualified job offer supported by a positive LMIA, IRCC has kept the 600 points assigned for a PNP nomination. This is an indication that the federal government of Canada is empowering provinces to select their own candidates. PNP nominations are not more important than ever!
Do not fall for the “false hope” you might get from online free CRS calculators. Contact us today to receive a private consultation and conduct a full in-depth assessment on your Express Entry profile to check your eligibility to apply for one of the PNP streams.
